George Herman Ruth was born February 6, 1895 in Baltimore Maryland. When he was 7 years-old he would throw tomatoes at cops.
In 1914, it was Babe Ruth’s first year in the Major Leagues. In 1914 he picked up the name “Babe” Ruth as a young player for the Baltimore Orioles of the International League. Other players began referring to him as the newest “babe’’ of Jack Dunn the Orioles owner.
In 1915, Babe Ruth hit his first home run. In 1919, he hit the most home runs ever-29. In 1920, he was sold to the Yankees. In that year something bad happed to baseball. Some White Sox players cheated and people found out about it.
The New York Yankees singed Babe Ruth to a two-year contract worth $160,000 in 1930.
Babe Ruth was a pitcher and pitchers don’t hit a lot. He promised that he would hit 50 or more home runs. When asked how to hit home runs, this is how he would respond. “I swing as hard as I can … I swing big, with every thing I’ve got. I hit big or miss as big as I can’’-Babe Ruth
