GINIEABGI • Proposed ABGI mission is: “To provide the strategic vision and leadership necessary to maximize the use of GI by all sectors of society for the purposes of good governance, commerce, research and citizenship”. European Umbrella Organisation for GI
GINIE/ABGIEUROGI’s opinion • Need for improved co-ordination of pan European organisations in GI in order to strengthen the voice for GI at European level. • independent organisation to improve the co-ordination • Best achieved through an existing organisation.. European Umbrella Organisation for GI
GINIE/ABGIEUROGI’s opinion • independent organisation to exist: * that is not responsible for the design, implementation, delivery and maintenance of the European Spatial Data Infrastructure as a whole or in part; and * which represents the widest network of people and organisations that have an interest in GI. European Umbrella Organisation for GI
GINIE/ABGIEUROGI’s opinion • existing organisation as EUROGI adapt and take on the ABGI role rather than establish a new organisation • Business-plan would set how EUROGI could take on the ABGI . • GINIE-consortium to decide in April European Umbrella Organisation for GI
GINIEResults published • On paper and on website • See www.ec-gis.org/ginie • reports in English and up to ten other languages • Final conference at end of project European Umbrella Organisation for GI
