early age instead of going to school and learning. After all, education is still considered to be a luxury that is quite low on their priorities. Children in India can be seen working in hazardous conditions where they work for long and strenuous hours and earn barely any wages. From factories to restaurants or even as domestic help, children are employed as helpers in environments that are not fit for a child. This affects their cognitive, mental, and emotional development. Also, it has been seen that children who start working from an early age rarely have a stable income later in life. Census 2011 further throws light on the fact that there are 33 million working children in India between 0–18 years and only 27% i.e., 8.9 million children attend school simultaneously. A school helps children learn, think, and evolve into their better versions but child labour pulls them down due to abuse and exploitation, thus stunting their growth. It is time we stop child labour and create a happy, hopeful, and conducive environment for India’s children who may grow up to become scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs, or country leaders.
