What is a lab, that is the question Professor, a lab is a room used primarily for laboratory experimentation, research or training in research methods; or professional research and observation and is coded Room Type 251.
I have an offer letter for a new Faculty Recruit, and the recruit is asking how many lab benches will they have. Where can I find that information?

Research Lab in CCSR, Room 2250. This side of the bench is counted as 2 out of 14

How Do I Update Bench Counts iniSpace? Open two Browser windows - iSpace (iSpace - ispace.stanford.edu) - Building Search Page https://maps-secure.stanford.edu/sims/building/building-search.cfm In the iSpace window on the Advanced Search page search by Parent Org., or Division org. code, Room Type 251 and “Most Recent” time period. In the Building Information Page window, enter Building number based on search result from # 2 above. In the iSpace window, open the room record. If there is no bench count on the Room Detail Page, click on the Maintain Current Room Attributes link. In the Building Information Page window, count the number of benches in the lab. In the iSpace window on the Edit Attributes page, add the bench count to the Benches field

2. In the iSpace window on the Advanced Search page, search by Parent Org., or Division org. code, Room Type 251 and “Most Recent” Time Period…
3.In the Building Information Page window, enter building number or name, or use the pick list….
3. …the floor plan displays each Research Lab with built-in case work in green…

…and click the “Maintain Current Room Attributes” to add Bench count.

Reporting Bench Counts Using ReportMart 1. Login to Reportmart and click on the word ‘Browse’ to display ReportMart reports
3. Select the Space Management folder 4. Select the folder named Space Coordinator 5. Select the Download Report” 3 4 5
Under the Primary Search Criteria select: Search by Dept (Org) Parent Org. (Tree) Search by Room Type Click Process Query
The first window that displays is the Parent Org Tree. Select the Parent or Division Code
Select the Rollup Level number, in this case there is only level 4
Select the Room Status. The room status for Bench Counts will always be “Open”
Double click on the default Start Date …
Double click on the default Stop Date, then click on Process Query…
The Attributes Table is now displayed in the center of the screen.
Reportmart displays the Room ID, Bldg. Name, Room Type, Org ID and Benches.
The data is now in Excel to sort, arrange or even create a pivot table.
Timeline We are asking all SoM Space Coordinators to complete this process by February 24th, 2006. This data will be most valuable for the SoM Master Plan that is being developed for the SoM Institutes and new science building. THANK YOU!
