Expository Documents: Consumer Documents Consumer Documents • Definition: Texts that provides information about products and services to users • Types: A document that shows you product information, instruction manuals, nutritional facts, warranties, and contracts
Public Documents • Documents that inform the public. Created by governmental, religious, or news-gathering organizations. • Examples: Schedule of events, government regulations, safety information.
Technical Documents • Documents used to explain or establish procedures for using technology. • Examples: installation instructions, how-to-instructions
Expository Documents: Functional Documents Functional Documents • Definition: Any documents prepared for a specific function such as consumer, public, workplace, and technical documents. Provides information, teaches you how to do something • Types: Instruction manuals, how to books, cookbooks, product information, information book lets, procedure memos, guides for permits
