ASME DESIGNEE & CONSULTANT Definition—Designee An individual authorized by ASME to act on its behalf for the purpose of performing reviews, surveys, assessments, audits, surveillances, investigations and examinations of organizations or persons holding, or applying for, accreditation or certification in accordance with the ASME Code or Standard or for ISO Registration Definition—Consultant An ASME Designee under contract to ASME ASME C&S Training Module B3
ASME DESIGNEE • May be • An individual or employee of a non-profit organization or government agency • An individual who is not employed by the organization being reviewed and does not engage in work of a conflicting nature • May not be • An employee of the organization’s AIA • An employee of a Certificate Holder (or applicant) under the same conformity assessment program • An ASME employee engaged in related work • A member of the BHA • An individual having a financial interest in the organization ASME C&S Training Module B3
ASME DESIGNEE • Certification • Accepted by the ASME Committee on Consultants and Designees based on criteria approved by BCA ASME C&S Training Module B3
ASME DESIGNATED ORGANIZATION Definition • An organization designated by ASME to perform administrative functions defined in ASME Codes and Standards • Example: The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors is the Designated Organization responsible for: • BPV Team Leader Examinations • Team Leader Seminars for Continued Certification • Pressure Relief Device and Testing Laboratory Reviews ASME C&S Training Module B3
ASME DESIGNATED ORGANIZATION • Authorization • Designated by ASME through an agreement based on ASME accepted criteria ASME C&S Training Module B3
