FT Standing Committee Meeting • FTC website updated with the help of Dick Kouzes • IEEE policy statement on fusion energy from IEEE USA “sunsetted” ? • SOFE2011 is requesting a special issue of TPS • New committee of guest editors formed • New international award considered for SOFE2013. • Charles Neumeyer provided update on SOFE2011. • Draft technical program – may include PSI-surface engineering • Wayne Meier of LLNL accepted the chair of SOFE2013. • Committee decided not to start SOFE early –may result in hotel change • Discussed technical co-sponsorship of TOFE 2012 conference run by ANS FED • FT members have close ties with ANS and nuclear professionals • Next teleconference week of July 26. • May have physical meeting at TOFE in Las Vegas, NV in late November.

Shared ICOPS/SOFE Approved Budget • Banquet cost ($40) is based on the price at the Odyssey ship - $165 per person and Planetarium of similar expenses. Total of 400 tickets. • The tax and service charge - 12.198% tax, 22% service charge– are based on contract withHyatt Regency McCormick Place.Chicago has one of the highest large-city sales tax rate - 10.25 %. • The registration fees may have to be slightly increased depending on success of fund raising & support. • The corporate support is anticipated to increase to help achieve the 15% anticipated profit • SOFE received $10K from PPPL and $5K from the Korean DA of ITER. Presently have requests into the ITER IO, all of the ITER DAs, many other national labs, DOE, etc. plus various corporate entities. • NPSS help with MCM costs would be appreciated.

Meier) • General Chair: Wayne Meier, LLNL • Program Chair: Hutch Neilson, PPPL • Date: June 23-27, 2013 • Meeting has been entered on IEEE Calendar (Conference # 17522). • Notification of IEEE Conference Insurance has been received. • IEEE Meeting & Conference Management is handling negotiations for hotel site. • - First choice hotel: Hyatt Regency Embarcadaro, San Francisco, but initial response was they would not commit to our desired dates (Sunday reception with M-Th meeting). They asked us to do a Sat start. • - IEEE MCM will request bids from other hotels, but some hotels only book two years out.
