The SECEC Membership Committee aims to reorganize memberships, attract young surgeons, and increase members. Changes include easier application processes and updated requirements. New applications from diverse countries are also increasing. The committee seeks input for future strategies.

Relevant changes • Members are expected to be must be up to date with their membership fees • Fusion of Young Forum and Junior Member, called Junior Member. Becomesautomaticallyassociate/correspondingmemberafter the age of 32, withoutrequest • Easier to become junior, associate, affiliate, correspondingmembers: no more motivation letter and ordinarymember’ssponsorship(s). To applyis a sufficientsign of motivation in itself (arduous) • More difficult to become an ordinarymember: publications/presentation have to berelated to shoulder/elbow
Applications • 67 (significant increase) • Around 10% of the society • 14 ordinary, 26 associate, 17 junior, 10 corresponding, 0 affiliate
