Vocabulary Skills: Context Clues: Word Clues * I can use context clues to help figure out unfamiliar words. Look for words in the same sentence or a nearby sentence that give a clue to the meaning of the word. The clue might be a synonym or another word that helps you to figure out the unfamiliar word’s meaning. Grammar Skills: Sentence Combining with Nouns * I can combine sentences by joining two nouns in the subject. Use the word and to join the nouns. Leave out the words that repeat. Make sure subjects and verbs agree. Example: John likes science. Bob likes science. John and Bob like science.
