EVALUATION SYSTEM PROCESS The following process shall be used in conjunction with an evaluation instrument aligned with InTASC. Implementation committee The Implementation committee shall develop a system that meets the standards of Chapter 508. The committee shall have a majority of teachers. Teachers shall be appointed by the Association. Decisions are made by consensus. Effective evaluation systems that have as a primary objective to improve professional practice require educator involvement and buy-in during the development process. The law and rules require that educators have to be involved in the development of the evaluation system. Steering committee • The permanent steering committee will be formed prior to the pilot process. • The committee shall regularly review and refine the performance evaluation and professional growth system to ensure that it is aligned with school administrative unit goals and priorities. The committee shall have a majority of teachers, appointed by the Association. Decisions are made by consensus.

So, what does it mean? The details will be decided; the major directions have not changed. The work still needs to be done. It is still about student achievement and best instructional practice. Primarily a growth and support model with an accountability factor.

How will the teacher of record be defined? “ Teacher of Record” means a teacher to whom the academic growth of a student is attributed, in whole or in part. -From L.D. 1858 A Teacher of Recordis an educator (or educators in co-teaching assignments) who has been assigned the lead responsibility for a student’s learning in a subject/course section with aligned performance measures. -New York State Education Department
