Important announcements • There is no supervision at school until 9:00 AM. Please do not drop off your child(ren) before 9:00 AM. Student may not report to their classroom until 9:05. • Thank you for supporting our dismissal procedures for kiss and ride and walkers. Need a number? See the front office. • Vehicles may no longer pull into the bus loop beginning at 8:45. The loop should also be cleared for buses at that time. No parking in the lot next to the school – not FCPS property. • Have you taken some nice pictures or video of school events? Feel free to submit them to Mr. Bloom for review. We are looking to promote our school through various media outlets! • There is a table and computers for parents to sign up for parent Blackboard accounts if desired. Parents should no longer be utilizing their child’s password to login. • Parents are able to complete this action from home, but if they feel they need assistance, they are welcome to stop by the table in the main lobby area. • Parents who want to complete the sign up process at home will find the link to all directions in the Parents section of our school website.

STEM Lab Update • STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) Lab Mission Statement • The STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) lab at Freedom Hill will enable students to explore the Fairfax County Curriculum in the core subject areas (language arts, math, social studies, and science) at a deeper level through largely problem-based and hands-on STEM activities.
STEM Lab Update • Engineering is Elementary Kits • New schedule implementation • FCPS News Hour Show coming soon! • The STEM lab will promote the acquisition of the 21st century skills as outlined by Fairfax County Public Schools: 1) collaboration; 2) communication; 3) creativity; 4) critical thinking • Thank you to everyone who supports and contributes to the PTA. The PTA has been instrumental in helping our students have access to STEM materials in the lab!

Classroom visitation • An announcement will be made at 7:55 to move to another classroom • We will conclude the evening at 8:30 • Tonight is for learning about your child’s school day; such as the curricula, expectations, procedures, etc. Individual parent conferences should be scheduled at another time. We expect you have a face-to-face parent conference with your teacher by November 4th.
