Introduction • Government and economic decisions are often impacted as a result of many different individuals and organizations being involved in an environmental issue. • Let’s look at the Alberta oil sands projects as an example, in which many stakeholders are involved.
Introduction • The oil sands have been receiving a lot of attention over the last few years not only for its economic impact but for its environmental damage as well. • In 2008, it was reported that oil giant Syncrude had 1 600 ducks die in one of the company’s waste ponds. In June 2010, Syncrude was found guilty of not trying to deter the birds from landing in their ponds. Edmonton Journal June 2010
