  3. Objectives: What would I learn after this lesson? At the end of this lesson you must learn : how to define the quadrilaterals. must able to know the kinds of quadrilaterals. difference between the kinds of quadrilaterals. NEXT PAGE

  4. Title Card NEXT PAGE

  5. Do you know the quadrilaterals? Yes.! Can you help me to my assignment about quadrilaterals? Of course..! I also know that..! NEXT PAGE

  6. Quadrilaterals is a four-sided polygon. Rectangle, square, rhombus, trapezoidand parallelogram are the kinds of it. Ok, thank you, now I understand what is quadrilateral and I can answer in our class tomorrow. NEXT PAGE

  7. The four segments formed by these points are called its sides. Quadrilaterals • is a four-sided polygon. • To illustrate a quadrilateral, four points are needed no three of which are collinear NEXT PAGE

  8. Four points are called the vertices • Quadrilateral is denoted by the symbol • The origin of the wordquadrilateral is from the two Latin words quadri, a variant of four, and latusmeaning "side." NEXT PAGE Quadrilaterals

  9. Example I C M A MI , IC , CA , and AM are the sides of MICA MIC , ICA , CAM , and AMI are the angles and could also be denoted as M , I , C and A NEXT PAGE Quadrilaterals

  10. A quadrilateral is convex if no two of its vertices lie on the opposite sides of a line containing a side of the quadrilateral. Example Convex NEXT PAGE Quadrilaterals

  11. Non Convex NEXT PAGE Quadrilaterals

  12. What is diagonal of a quadrilateral? Ma’am, a diagonal of a quadrilateral is a segment joining two nonconsecutive vertices. Ok Ma’am. You’re right..! Can you give an example in the blackboard. NEXT PAGE Quadrilaterals

  13. B C AC and BD are diagonals of ABCD. Diagonals of quadrilaterals divide the quadrilateral into two triangles. A D The sum of the measure of the angles of a quadrilateral is 360˚ NEXT PAGE Quadrilaterals

  14. Kinds of Quadrilaterals Parallelogram -a quadrilateral with two pairs of opposite sides which are parallel. NEXT PAGE

  15. Rectangle -a parallelogram whose angles are all right angles. Square - a parallelogram whose sides and angles are all congruent. NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  16. Rhombus -a parallelogram whose sides are equal lengths and whose angles are oblique. An oblique angleis an acute or an obtuse angle. NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  17. The diagonalsof a rectangle have equal lengths. NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  18. The diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular to each other. The diagonals of a square are equal and perpendicular to each other. NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  19. Two sides (lines) are parallel if they lie on the same plane and do not met how far they are extended. The sides of a trapezoid that are parallel are its bases. NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  20. The non-parallel sides of trapezoid are its legsand the legs of an isosceles trapezoid are equal. The segment joining the midpoints of non-parallel sides is the median. NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  21. Any segment drawn from the upper base perpendicular to the lower base is its altitude. ABCD is a trapezoid. AD and BC are the bases. AB and CD are its legs. EF is the median. CG is the altitude. B C E F D A G NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  22. Trapezoid -a quadrilateral with one pair of opposite sides which are parallel. Scalene trapezoid or Trapezium - a scalene trapezoid is a trapezoid with no equal sides. NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  23. Right - angled Trapezoid - a right-angled trapezoid is a trapezoid with two right angles. Isosceles Trapezoid - a trapezoid with two non-parallel sides that are congruent. NEXT PAGE Kinds of Quadrilaterals

  25. Activity 1 I can make copy of oneself, but I can neither a printer nor a camera. I portray right as left and left as right. Even if I am broken , I can make the same. What am I? Identify the quadrilateral in Column A and click the letter of the correct answer in column B. Each answer corresponds to a letter or a code of the magic word or answer. Find the Magic Word NEXT PAGE Activity

  26. B A i. r. o. m. r. r. • Square • Rhombus • Rectangle • 4. Parallelogram • 5. Trapezoid • 6. Right-angled Trapezoid 5 3 2 6 1 4 Activity

  27. Activity 2 Using quadrilateral MACK, identify : Two pairs of opposite angles Two pairs of opposite sides One pair of diagonals Two pairs of opposite vertices Four pairs of consecutive sides Four pairs of consecutive angles A C K M NEXT PAGE Activity

  28. Student’s Note Please check the things you learn and understand after you read this lesson. I now understand : The definition of quadrilateral. The kinds of quadrilaterals. Identify the bases and legs of a trapezoid. Identify the median and altitude of a trapezoid. NEXT PAGE Student’s Note

  29. Identify the diagonals of a quadrilateral. Identify the two non-parallel sides quadrilateral. Identify the kinds of parallelogram quadrilateral. Identify the kinds of trapezoid quadrilateral. NEXT PAGE Student’s Note

  30. The activities have been : Easy Medium Difficult Now, I can do the activities : Alone With one companion to work with Within a group NEXT PAGE Student’s Note
