The Initative of the project Project initiated by ELECTRABEL, the Belgian national energy company Other utility companies joined afterwards the initiative The project covers the complete Flemish region (1/2 of Belgium ; 6M people) Afterwards followed by initiatives that covers: - the Walloon region - the entire country

    6. The Aim of the project WOC exchange of information between utility companies and government between utility companies and contractors between utility companies to the large public coordination and planning of works decision tool for authorizing works

The internet as information channel Internet : the ideal instrument for coordinating and exchanging information about utility works Portal site to check WHO performs works WHEN and WHERE Announce new works and provide status information via e-mail Central storage of all information about works Graphic display of works on a community map

The WWW.WOC.BE website Built on a central database (Oracle Spatial) + STAR NEXT web mapping tool containing: General info on workplaces planned, in progress or completed which company, contact person, workplace reference Status information on workplaces planned and true start and completion dates Geometry of workplaces in which street(s) what side of the street base map: TeleAtlas 1/10,000 raster and vector maps GRB 1/1,000 vector map « areas of interest » indicating possible presence of infrastructure of certain utility company « areas of interest » indicating zones where utility companies plan works Other information: traffic diversions, community events ...

    19. Naast overheid en nutsbedrijven kan ook de burger de centrale databank raadplegen. Hij heeft hiervoor enkel een internet-browser nodig en kan enkel gegevens uit de databank raadplegen. Er is geen enkele vorm van rapportering voorzien. Iedere gebruiker kan met de klassieke print-screen faciliteiten een afdruk maken van de inhoud van de getoonde schermen.Naast overheid en nutsbedrijven kan ook de burger de centrale databank raadplegen. Hij heeft hiervoor enkel een internet-browser nodig en kan enkel gegevens uit de databank raadplegen. Er is geen enkele vorm van rapportering voorzien. Iedere gebruiker kan met de klassieke print-screen faciliteiten een afdruk maken van de inhoud van de getoonde schermen.
