UPR Description • A User Preferred Routes is a routing that is filed in an aircraft’s FPL which allows the aircraft to flight plan the most efficient route for their flight.

RJAA UPR Route RJBB New Zealand - Japan UPR can be unrestricted from Departure Airport to Arrival Airport NZAA NZCH
RJAA UPR Route RJBB New Zealand - Japan UPR can be restricted by the ATC provider between Departure Gateway and Arrival Gateway Waypoint(s)/Routes NZAA NZCH
New Zealand - Japan UPR Route RJAA Different FIRs can have different restrictions for aircraft to file UPRs Auckland, Brisbane and Nadi Centers support UPRs for FANS equipped aircraft RJBB Oakland Center supports UPRs G205 Moresby Center supports UPRs in part of their airspace NZAA NZCH

UPR Trials in the CEP Airborne UPR Trials have shown savings of over 3100 LBS of Fuel The CEP consists of 7 fixed ATS Routes
UPR Trials in the CEP Trials are still under evaluation Ensure there are no adverse effects A study is being conducted to determine the feasibility of using Flexible Tracks in the CEP (target completion date 10/2007) Users are encouraged to participate in the Trials. Japan – New Zealand UPR Trials Paper Trials show potential for large savings Oakland, Auckland, Nadi, and Brisbane Control Centers can support operational Trials Port Moresby is ready to support UPRs on or east of ATS Route G205. South Pacific UPRs were discussed at the ISPACG meeting in Auckland NZ.
Japan – South Pacific UPR Paper Trials An agreement was reached at the ISPACG Meeting to begin a Paper Trial for UPR routings south of the Fukuoka FIR. If the results of the Paper Trial are successful, the Trials may progress to Airborne UPRs.
Action By The Meeting • The group is requested to support beginning UPR Paper Trials between the South Pacific and Japan. The data from the paper trial may allow the ANSP and Users to carefully evaluate the impacts of these UPRs. • Users are encouraged to participate in the CEP UPR Trial.
