Waiting on the Holy Spirit Acts 1:11-26
Waiting: ”to stay where one is or to delay action until a particular time or event, to remain in readiness for a purpose” cannot wait: “used to indicate that one is eagerly impatient to do something”
1. Already the Promise of Something • Instructions • Assurance of what was to come
2. Change of Perspective & Posture • They returned to Jerusalem • (Acts 1:12) • They had to change where they were looking
3. Active Responses • Gathering • Fasting • Praying • Engaging in the process
4. Change in Thinking & Living • No longer relying on old patterns • Reliance on the Holy Spirit
Engage • Is there anything we are currently waiting for? • What things are we asking God? • Are there things where, like the disciples, life has not looked how we expected it would?
Engage • What do you feel was the last thing God told you to do? • Do you need to remain rooted, to rest and to remember His promises?
