My first year teaching 6th & 7th Grade Math.

  9. Homework • Math is a subject in which homework is essential for knowledge retention. Expect your child to have homework every night. • Most homework assignments will be workbook pages. If a student loses the workbook page, the student will be responsible for going to the textbook webpage (www.glencoe.com) or the link from my website (http://www.pearlandisd.org/webpages/ambrol/) and printing out the appropriate workbook page. I will NOT have extra copies.

  10. Mini-Quizzes Mini-quizzes will be given over homework assignments. We will check/go over the homework in class the day it is due, then take a mini-quiz. Students may use the homework to take the mini-quiz and it will be turned in together. The homework will count as 20% of the mini-quiz grade. A full 20% will be given if the homework is completed (right or wrong) with ALL work shown.

  11. Advanced/Honors Math • Students in Honors Math are learning 7th grade material and will be taking the 7th grade STAAR test this year.

  12. Tutoring • Tutoring is available Tuesday through Friday mornings at 8:00 a.m. There is a Math teacher assigned for each day of the week. • Tuesday: Ambro • Wednesday: Bischof • Thursday: Flowers • Friday: Stevenson/Jordan • I will see students for extra help at student/parent request. • (I will email a pass when the request is made.) • Tuesdays

  14. 6th Grade Social Studies • In 6th grade Social Studies, we study the • geography and cultures of the world.

Term 1 Term ONE – (August 26th – October 18th ) • Geography • Culture • Government & Economics (Including Constitution Day Sept 17th and Celebrate Freedom Week) • Middle East (geography and religion of Southwest Asia and Northern Africa) Benchmark #1 – October 15 – 18th Includes: general geography concepts, and Middle East Religions and Geography

  16. Term 2 Term TWO – (October 21st – December 20th) • Middle East • Western Europe Benchmark #2 – December 16th – 20th Includes: Geography, culture, history and government of the Middle East and Western Europe.

  17. Term 3 Term THREE – (January 7th – March 21st) • Eastern Europe & Russia • Latin America • Sub-Sahara Africa (Part I) Benchmark #3 – Feb 18th – 21st Includes: Geography, culture, history and government of Eastern Europe and Russia + geography map reading skills using Latin American Maps.

  19. Projects • We will do projects approximately every 9 weeks. • The Projects will be mostly done at home. • Occasionally the students will go to the computer lab to do research. • Some projects will be done with a partner; others will be done alone.
