Section 100 105.14- All vehicles performing traffic control activities to be equipped with high-intensity warning lights per MUTCD 107.10- Submit damage claims to the Contractor’s insurer and provide proof of damage claim submissions, if requested by the Engineer, within 15 calendar days of the request 109.05- The Department can no longer withhold retainage on the Contractor. Partial Payments are subject to correction in any payment following the discovery of an error or defective work

  3. Fiber WattlesSubsections 212.03 & 711.19 • Straw bales are only for emergency use • Fiber Wattles added to Standard Drawing P-1-B • Use where flow rates < 1 cfs, drainage areas • < 5 acres, slopes flatter than 2H:1V • Leave in place unless otherwise directed

  4. Open Graded Base (Rock Cap)Subsections 307 and 703.08 • Rock cap will now be referred to as • Open Graded Base Class I, II, or III. • Open Graded Base Class II & III produced • from gravel sources • A cost effective alternate to Rock Cap

  5. Surface Treatments • 403.02- Seal coat design will be by the McLeod Method • 415- Micro Surfacing. Additional ISSA tests required • for mix design to improve micro surfacing life • 702.03- Allows use of CRS-2P Emulsified Asphalt

Plant Mix PavementSection 405 • 405.03- Per AGC Request: • PG binder can bump one grade higher on high temp side • PG binder can bump one grade lower on low temp side • 405.03- Gmm value for test strip test section is the avg. • calculated for the test section • 405.03.H- Contractors can use C-JMF (rather than the JMF) • for test strips if pre-approved • 405.03.H- Requires additional volumetric test strip only • if binder or aggregate source changes • 405.03.H- Density test strips must be to same width and thickness • as represented lift

  7. Section 409- Portland Cement Concrete Pavement • Subsection 409.03- Specifies single cut relief joint • width and depth • Use hot poured elastomeric joint sealer • meeting 704.03 • No backer rods will be used

  8. ConcreteSubsections 502.01 & 703.02 • Updated & revised concrete aggregate • specifications (703.02) • Slump is no longer a basic mix design • parameter (502.01) • Specifies minimum Secondary Cementitious • Material (SCM) content (502.01)

  9. Adds Precast Concrete Supplier Certifications • Per Subsections 509.01 and 706.01: • NPCA Plant Certification Program • ACPA Q-Cast Plant Certification Program • PCI Plant Certification Program

  10. Gabion ConstructionSubsection 512.03 Now requires construction procedure to be prepared by the manufacturer and submitted to ITD

  11. New Pipe OptionsSections 602-605 & 706 • Polypropylene pipe per 706.19 • Steel Reinforced Ribbed Polyethylene (SRRPE) • pipe per 706.18

  14. GeotextilesSubsections 718.05, 718.06 & 718.07 ASTM Test D6241 now replaces D4833 to determine puncture strength
