    2. 2 Three Types of Changes This year changes are classified in three types: Changes made in cooperation with the Industry Materials Changes (also, made in cooperation with Industry) General Special Provisions (changes to the book) included in the new 2007 Spec Book The latest specification package is posted on our website at: www.virginiadot.org/business/const/

    3. 3 Changes in Cooperation with Industry Price Adjustment always in place for Asphalt Items We are working on a system that will automatically flag the eligible items for adjustment AC adjustment on Asphalt Stabilized Open Graded material (drainage layer) The drainage layers are being re-evaluated. This item will be considered for changes next year PG 70-22 paid by invoice This item will be discussed and considered for change next year

    4. 4 Changes in Cooperation with Industry (cont.) Type F Temporary Pavement Markings At this time the Department is discussing temporary markings and will come up with an alternative based on industry input Type I, II & III Patching Prices - The Department has asked the industry to give input on a multiplier based on bid item prices in the contract for all types of patching. Flexible Pavement Planning - Industry has asked that the Department to utilize one milling specification for both Construction and Maintenance projects, this will be considered for next year Rideability This item will be discussed and considered for change next year

A recap of the issues to be discussed and resolved prior to 2010 season: Fuel adjustment for Warm Mix Adjustment index for 70-22 binder One milling specification for Maintenance and Construction Index for patching on regular schedule work Rideability AC Adjustment on Open Graded (drainage layer)

    6. 6 2007 Specification Book Changes to the Book are Provisions that were formerly in many of our proposals that are now part of the 2007 Road and Bridge Specifications. These Provisions remain in force even though they are not in the proposal.     7. 7 Materials Changes Some of the changes include: Trench Widening % of RAP Warm Mix Asphalt (permitted) These changes are highlighted in the 2009 Plant Mix Specifications located on the web at: www.virginiadot.org/business/const/

    8. 8 Change in the Proposal We are going to a two (2) Volume Proposal for each Advertised Schedule: A statewide Specifications Volume with all of the operational and materials Specifications A District Volume that has the Bid Item Sheets, C-7, Route Schedules and District specific information At execution of the contract the two volumes will be combined into one.
