Introduction Teacher Critique How many times have your students asked for more visual aids in your history class? For this technologically savvy generation, it seems as if still pictures in a history textbook are not enough to stimulate interest. Even though showing education films are not a new classroom phenomena, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation have developed a series of classroom tools that are enthralling to both teachers and students alike. • The series does not cover every possible focus in the Intermediate/Senior version of the history curriculum thus, teachers need to perform additional research for those particular areas. • The documentary focuses on the viewpoints of 4 groups in Canada (English Speaking, French Speaking, Aboriginal and Women) and how they came together to form and continuously change the concept of our nation . Canada: A People’s History is a 17 episode television series produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for the purpose of educating Canadians about the history of their country from before European First Contact to the Meech Lake Accord. Along with the convenience of having a visual history of Canada in your classroom available to your students, the support resources that coincide with the series are more than worthwhile to supplement your classroom lessons with.
