ORPHANS FUNDRAISING DINNERMEDICAL HELP in 2003/2004 “Ling Ling” Ling ling was found out of Hebei Wuqiu Orphanage in June 2003. She was abandoned by her parents. Later the caregiver found she had a severe malformation with her bowel/anus. Just after the October fundraiser, a surgery was arranged for Ling Ling at Beijing Children’s Hospital and the malformation was fully corrected. Shortly thereafter and as a result of the lifesaving surgery, a Chinese family adopted Ling Ling!!
ORPHANS FUNDRAISING DINNERMEDICAL HELP in 2003/2004 “Da Hua & Er Hua” These two boys were both abandoned because of having both male and female genitalia. They were both recently adopted by a Chinese farmer Mr. Li from Heibei Wuqiu Orphanage 4 years ago. They couldn’t have a normal life or attend school as other children because of painful urination and other forms of social isolation. Their newly adopted father, Mr. Li, wanted to help provide the surgeries needed to correct their problem. However, the surgery fees of 20,000 RMB was unaffordable Funds from the charity dinner paid for the surgery, and now the boys are living healthy lives with their new father and attending school.
ORPHANS FUNDRAISING DINNERMEDICAL HELP in 2003/2004 “Dou Dou” Dou Dou had a herniation of the meninges – a hernia of tissue membranes protecting the nervous system in the spine – and we were told was on death’s edge. She was sent to Langfang orphanage on March 21, 2004 and we were soon after contacted to help provide a life-saving surgery. The surgery is not overly difficult but is often life-saving. After surgery, the baby’s life was spared and health restored. Now, Dou Dou is being parented in a Chinese foster home.
ORPHANS FUNDRAISING DINNERMEDICAL HELP in 2003/2004 “Liu Gang” Liu Gang is now 8-years old. When he was 5-years old, he was abandoned because of having cerebral palsy. An orphanage outside of Beijing (Liu Cun) found him abandoned in a supermarket. Funds from the EU Dinner allowed him to have his legs and feet operated on in April ‘04. After the health treatment, he should be able to walk by himself. In June ‘04, a Chinese caregiver being trained in physical therapy was located and is providing full-time care for Liu Gang.
