Socrates - 469 to 399 BCE/BC Click Here • Sought to understand and achieve virtue through critical inquiry (“know thyself”) • Used the Socratic method to ask students questions so that they may find answers • Plato is his most trusted student • Died from Hemlock when sentenced to death for corrupting morals of minors The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing
