Algeria • Al Qaeda linked groups attacked the In Amenas gas facility leaving 37 foreign workers dead, according to the Algerian prime minister. • The terrorist groups now have the resources to reconnoiter and launch complex attacks against places far from their strongholds.
Egypt • Newly independent from the ousted President Mubarak and a new election is coming into place soon.
Libya • Last month, the North African country of Libya changed its official long-form name to "State of Libya“ • After Gaddafi’s death and Libya’s subsequent official liberation, rebel forces beginning to hand in their weapons.
Saudi Arabia • Saudi Arabia may be forced to change its method of execution from beheading to the firing squad after running out of swordsmen.

United States involvement • If the United States got involved in the hostage situation at the gas facility in Algeria, it would only cause a bigger issue. Involvement from the US could cause more violence by the terrorist group, and could jeopardize the Algerian citizens safety.
