  11. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Friends in Christ: we have gained access to the grace in which we stand through our Lord Jesus Christ. Since we have peace with God through him, let us draw near to God our Father with a true heart to confess our sins, and ask him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us.

  12. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION C: We confess that we are born in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have failed to do.

  13. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION C: We have not loved you with our whole heart, and we have not loved our neighbour as ourselves. We deserve your eternal punishment. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.

  14. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION C: Forgive us, renew us, and lead us,so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

  21. PRAYER OF THE DAY M: Let us pray for faith in the Triune God. C: Eternal God, you have revealed yourself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and you live in the perfect unity of love. Give us a sure faith in you, so that we share in your holy fellowship and life as three Persons in one God, now and forever. Amen.

  22. FIRST READING R: The first reading for Trinity Sunday is written in Chapter eight of Proverbs beginning at verse one. Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31 CEV Wisdom's role in creation

  23. Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31 R: With great understanding, Wisdom is calling out 2 as she stands at the crossroads and on every hill. 3She stands by the city gate where everyone enters the city, and she shouts: 4"I am calling out to each one of you!

  24. Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31 22From the beginning, I was with the LORD. I was there before he began 23to create the earth. At the very first, the LORD gave life to me. 24When I was born, there were no oceans or springs of water.

  25. Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31 25My birth was before mountains were formed or hills were put in place. 26It happened long before God had made the earth or any of its fields or even the dust. 27I was there when the LORD put the heavens in place and stretched the sky over the surface of the sea.

  26. Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31 28I was with him when he placed the clouds in the sky and created the springs that fill the ocean. 29I was there when he set boundaries for the sea to make it obey him, and when he laid foundations to support the earth.

  28. Psalm 8CEV R: The Psalm is Psalm 8. R: 1Our LORD and Ruler, your name is wonderful everywhere on earth! You let your glory be seen in the heavens above. C: 2With praises from children and from tiny infants, you have built a fortress. It makes your enemies silent, and all who turn against you are left speechless.

  29. Psalm 8CEV R: 3I often think of the heavens your hands have made, and of the moon and stars you put in place. C: 4Then I ask, "Why do you care about us humans? Why are you concerned for us weaklings?

  32. Second reading R: The second reading for today is written in Chapter five of Romans beginning at verse one. Romans 5:1-5 CEV The Christian experience of the Trinity

  33.  Romans 5:1-5  R: By faith we have been made acceptable to God. And now, because of our Lord Jesus Christ, we live at peace with God. 2Christ has also introduced us to God's undeserved kindness on which we take our stand. So we are happy, as we look forward to sharing in the glory of God.

  34.  Romans 5:1-5 3But that's not all! We gladly suffer, because we know that suffering helps us to endure. 4And endurance builds character, which gives us a hope 5that will never disappoint us.

  35.  Romans 5:1-5 All of this happens because God has given us the Holy Spirit, who fills our hearts with his love. This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

  38. John 16:12-15 M: 12I have much more to say to you, but right now it would be more than you could understand. 13The Spirit shows what is true and will come and guide you into the full truth. The Spirit doesn't speak on his own. He will tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know what is going to happen.  

  39. John 16:12-15 14The Spirit will bring glory to me by taking my message and telling it to you. 15Everything that the Father has is mine. That is why I have said that the Spirit takes my message and tells it to you. This is the Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ.

  40. M: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for the Holy Spirit, who reveals the truth about God. May we give glory to you and the Father and the Spirit. C: Amen.

  41. APOSTLE’S CREED C: I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

  42. APOSTLE’S CREED And in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead.

  43. APOSTLE’S CREED He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty, from thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

  44. APOSTLE’S CREED I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen *or: Christian; ‘catholic’ here means ‘universal’
