Technology Standards for School Administrators (TSSA) • National consensus among educational stakeholders of indicators of effective leadership for technology in schools • Underlying assumption: School administrators should be competent users of information and technology tools common to information-age professionals

  3. The TSSA Collaborative – more than 40 members - including: • National School Board Association (NSBA) • American Association of School Administrators (AASA) • National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) • National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) • International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) • Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) • North Central Regional Education Laboratory (NCREL) • Texas Association of School Administrators

Technology Standards for School Administrators • Six Standards Statements • Each standards statement has four-six Performance Indicators • Each standards statement identifies three sets of Technology Leadership Role-Specific Tasks 1. Superintendent-level leaders 2. District-level leaders 3. Campus-level leaders

An Example • Leadership and Vision Standard • Foster & nurture a culture of responsible risk-taking and advocate policies promoting continuous innovation with technology(one of six Performance Indicators for all leadership roles) • Promote highly effective practices in technology integration among faculty & other staff(one of three Leadership Tasks for a Campus-level Administrator) Can you think of real-life examples of these?
