  9. GOD DESIRE EVERY BELIEVER TO TAKE PERSONAL OWNERSHIP OF THE GREAT COMMISSION, MAKING IT OUR PERSONAL COMMISSION. THE GREAT COMMISSION IS TO BE OBEYED BY EVERY BELIEVER 11 Cor 5:18 NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  10. How many believers are alive to that reality and how can we as Mobilizers mobilize the body of  Christ globally toward the fulfillment of the Great Commission? “The task is not "finishable" if we cannot envision a global church mobilized and missional”.. Randy M.That is why we are here to access where we are, identify gaps and be helped by the spirit of God to embrace new strategies towards awakening the church to its task, because ‘if the harvest is delayed further, what the son of God died for would be wasted’.Tim O. 11. What is the mission goal of the Church toward fulfilling the Great Commission? ORWhat specific task is the church actually called to pursue in fulfilling the Great Commission?THE GREAT COMMISSION: MATT 28: 19 & 24:14 NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  12. To make disciples of all nations.(nation = ethne = ethnic people group, NOT political countries)The word translated ‘nations’ is the Greek word “ethne”. It is defined by culture and language. It points to ethnicities, the language and extended families which constitute the peoples of the earth. An ethnolinguistic people is a group with shared ethnicity and language. A single country can have hundreds of such groups NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  13. A culturally relevant church for every people group leading to worship from every nation, tribe, people and tongue such that God’s glory and kingdom fills the earth Rev 7:9 & Hab 2:14Matthew 24:14 states the mission goal of the church towards completing the Great Commission; in terms of the gospel of the kingdom been proclaimed globally as a witness to all nations. A witness to all nations aims at a living testimony of the gospel of the kingdom within every people, - ie a disciple making fellowship of believers, within every people. This is a completable task! NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  14. The missionary task is to bring about the beginning of a gospel movement in every ethne, nation or people, so that the people of that culture will eventually hear the gospel communicated by someone from their own people group. The essential missionary task of the church is therefore to establish a viable, indigenous, church planting movement within every people group that carries a potential to renew whole extended families and transform whole societies NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  15. When this takes place within a people group, we call it Missiological Breakthrough. That irreducible, essential mission task of a breakthrough in every people group is what we are called to pursue in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. That is a completable task! But, how has the church fared in this task in the last 2000 years and what potential is there for completing the task? NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  16. The World’s Population 2.2 Billion Christians 7.2 Billion 2.7 Billion Engaged 2.3 Billion The Unfinished Task

  17. THE WORLD’s PEOPLES • 7.2 Billion Individuals • 16,801 People Groups • 6,909 Languages • 238 Countries • Unreached = 2.9 B individuals • 6, 900 People Groups • - Joshua Project

  18. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE UNREACHED? In simple terms, these unreached people groups typically have: No Bible in their language or dialect No Church in their culture or people group Sometimes, no Christian in their community “Unreached - is defined as less than 5% Christian adherents and less than 2% evangelicals in the people group.) NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  19. BLOCKS OF UNREACHED PEOPLES • Religious blocks – Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, ATR, Nominal Christianity • Normadic Peoples eg the Tuareg of the Sahara, the Bedouin of the Middle East and the Fulani of WA/Horn of Africa – last block? • Post Christian Europe & the West • Children & Young People – The Great Ommission in the Great Commission • Diasporas – Peoples on the Move • Refugees, Restricted Access countries etc NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  20. SUMMARY STATUS OF THE GREAT COMMISSION 2.3b are unreached, which means they have little or no access to the Gospel. 6,900 Unreached ethnic people groups out of 16,600 total groups in the world. Bible translation: "About 87% of the world's population now have NT Scriptures in their language. The tragedy is that over 2,000 language groups do not yet have a verse of scripture in their language and no one is working on them. NIGERIA CENTRE FOR GLOBAL HARVEST

  21. “…I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” Jn.4:35b

  22. AFTER NEARLY 2000 YEARS SINCE JESUS COMMISSIONED HIS FOLLOWERS TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL PEOPLES, AN ESTIMATED 6900 PEOPLE GROUPS ENCOMPASSING CLOSE TO 3 BILLION INDIVIDUALS ARE STILL WITHOUT THE REACH OF ANY RELEVANT LOCAL CHURCH. • HOW MAY WE AS MOBILIZERS RESOLVE UNDER GOD TO CHANGE THIS STATUS AND RIGHTLY MOBILIZE THE CHURCH TO EMBRACE HER TASK?

  23. POTENTIALS FOR FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION • Size of the Evangelical Church Globally & Increase in Non–Western Missionaries/Youths • Technology: Advances in communication, both teleconferencing & video, ability to share resources including audio-video files. Satellite TV, Internet & the Jesus Film • The next generation of missionaries ability to share, copy and distribute freely information via social media platforms, chat rooms, etc. • Advances in transportation • Global & Regional Mobilization Networks etc.

  24. HINDERANCES TO EFFECTIVE CHURCH MOBILIZATION • Poor Training of Pastors & Seminary Teachers, Students & Children workers • Unwholesome emphasis from the Pulpits • Lack of obedience based discipleship in the Church • Lack of Contextualised Mobilization Strategies • Gradual Loss of Student Power in Mission etc

  25. RETHINKING MOBILIZATION STRATEGIES • Targeting Seminaries/Bible Schools, Leadership of Student Fellowships, Sunday Schools, Christian Professional Groups. – • ‘I have found David my servant’ • Employing Sports, Theatre Arts, Music, Social Media, Internet & Mobile devices • Re-orienting the lives of today’s harvest force around a radical abandonment to Jesus and his cause on earth, raising a generation of Calebs who will dare the frontiers of the Unfinished task • Prayers!!! Prayers!!! Prayers!!! etc

  26. NO INTERCESSOR“I sought for a man to stand in the gap…but I found none”(Ezek. 22:30)‘Ask of me the heathen for your inheritance, the ends of the earth for your possession’‘Pray ye the Lord of the Harvest that he may send forth laborers into his harvest field’

  27. REFLECTIONS • What are we doing we need to stop doing? • What are we not doing we need to start doing? • What are we doing that could be improved?

  28. ESTABLISHING A VIABLEINDIGENOUS CHURCH PLANTING MOVEMENT WITHIN THE REMAINING 6900 PEOPLE GROUPS IS A DOABLE TASK! • HOW WILL YOUR LIFE COUNT IN COMPLETING THIS MANDATE?

  29. I must work the works of him that sent me,while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. My food, is to obey the will of the one who sent me and to finish the work he gave me to do”
