This report covers the last week Reporting for: Dan Callahan Susanne Kyre Stephen Jaditz Puneeth Kalavase Jim Lamb Claudio Campagnari Status of Rod Production at UCSB assembly testing
Summary of rod production at UCSB • Stopped assembly Thursday May 5 because of concern with I2C errors • We have built 20 production rods • All 20 are tested on single rod stand • 12 have been tested on multi rod stand
I2C errors • 6 out of 20 tested rods had I2C communication errors in position 6 • Similar behavior at FNAL • Reproduced at CERN • Not a feature of LtStruct software • I2C communication sensitive to details of line impedance, cabling, noise, even detailed sequence of commands (!) • Experts are investigating
I2C errors (continued) • There has been a proposal to have CERN people come to US • Not universally favored at CERN • For now, continue remote investigation
Long Term testing • Second batch of six rods went through longterm testing over the weekend • Last test cycle was interuppted by lack of fluid (slide 6) • First set consistent with ARCS testing except one pinhole • Second set consistent with ARCS testing • Disclaimer: didn't look at position six in detail because of i2c problems
Long Term testing • Progress made in analyzing the data • Verified that DefectAnalyzer flags the right things given the cuts we set • Saturated pulse shapes in inverter-on modes cause problems for flagging, because we can't set cuts differently for inverter-on/-off modes • We can work around in DefectAnalyzer or fix it in LtStruct
Long Term testing • Chiller lost all its fluid at the beginning of last week, after several days of running • We surmised the cause was the long pipes between chiller and freezer, so we made plans to move the chiller closer • We got new fluid on friday. • Chiller ran out again on Sunday morning • Interrupted the last cycle of tests • Leak found in an o-ring in valve between chiller and freezer • Still a good idea to move the chiller closer • The chiller is now moved
