China under the Qin • Shi Huangdi changed China’s political system. • HE had all the power and the lords had NONE • Shi Huangdi took land away from nobles • Forced common people to work on government building projects. These workers faced years of hardship, danger and death.
To have even MORE control… • Shi Huangdi divided China into districts • Each had its own governor • Districts were divided up into counties • Ruled by government officials • This kind of organization made the government strong. • Strict chain of command. • Helped the emperor enforce his tax system
How did new policies and achievements unite the Chinese people? • Chinese people were now connected by a network of roads and waterways. Chinese people were unified through these achievements.
