How to enrol • You enrol online via WES (Web Enrolment System) • WES allows you to: • Accept your offer • Update your contact details • Complete the enrolment questionnaire • Submit your CSP HECS-HELP application form • Enrol in units • To enrol, go to the link provided in your Letter of Offer and follow the prompts. Do this by 17 July so you can enter your preferences. • You must have enrolled online in order to collect your Student ID card. • Collect your Student ID card: 15 July Clayton and 16 July Caulfield • Note: Enrol in units for semester 2

More on WES • Make WES your friend. • WES also allows you to: • View your results • Print/view your unofficial academic record • Check your exam timetable • Receive important messages and updates from Arts and the University • Every time you make a change in WES you receive a transaction number • Keep a record of these numbers, they are proof of any administrative changes you make. You need a transaction number to get your student ID card • You also receive an email in your student account with the details of your activity

24. Collecting your Student ID Card • Collect from Monash Connect • Available for collection 15 July at Clayton and 16 July at Caulfield • See your Enrolment Checklist to know what documentation you need to bring with you to get your ID card

After you enrol • Enter your timetable preferences in • Select your timetable preferences before the start of each semester. • Allocate+ closes 17 July, 5:00pm. • Allocate+ re-opens 22 July, 10:00am for adjustment. • Units can be changed up until 08 Aug for Semester 2. • WES has all the important dates

If you do not have access to the internet, or if you need help enrolling online, you can enrol in person with the Faculty of Arts (Please note: Enrol by 17 July so you can enter your timetable preferences via Allocate+) Arts Student Services: Building 11, Level 2, Clayton Building H, Level 5, Caulfield

28. Special Consideration What is special consideration? If you are unable to complete an assessment piece or exam due to exceptional circumstances, you may apply for special consideration. Eligibility • Acute illness • Loss or bereavement • Hardship or Trauma • Military service / Jury service / Emergency services such as County Fire Authority • Monash Sport’s Elite Athlete Support Program, if you are participating in a key event Supporting Documentation All applications must have relevant supporting documentation such as; • Medical certificate, letter from a medical practitioner • Letter of support from a social worker, lawyer, psychologist, counsellor • Death notice or certificate / obituary notice (must have evidence of relationship)

29. Special Consideration cont. • Statutory declarations from students or relevant people (depending on the circumstances) • Notification from defence services, Juries Commissioner’s office, Emergency service organisations, Monash elite athlete sport program, Disability Liaison Unit. Medical/professional certificates must state you were unfit to sit your exam or complete work for assessment on or before the relevant date. In-semester • Applications are submitted to the teaching faculty of the unit and no later than 2 working days after the due date of the assessment. End-of-semester / Deferred final assessment • Applications are submitted to the managing faculty of the course and are to be submitted no later than 2 working days after the last exam for the semester. Possible outcomes of Special Consideration • An extension to a submission date • An alternative and equivalent form of assessment • A deferred exam Mark adjustments are not a possible outcome of special consideration. Disability Liaison Unit • If you have a disability, ongoing medical or mental health condition we suggest registering with the Disability Liaison Unit. • The DLU are a great support service for students, who can provide certain academic accommodations, depending on the nature of the condition, which can assist you throughout your studies. • If you are registered with the DLU and require special consideration, in most cases, the DLU registration letter is sufficient supporting documentation. What to expect – Academic orientation ARTS: 22 July at Caulfield & Clayton You will receive important information that will prepare you for study You will get to know faculty staff – course coordinators and other VIPs You will get to know your new classmates and start making friends – so strike up a conversation! Other Academic Orientation opportunities: Check out the library – tours, classes, study skills workshops or just talk to the friendly library staff

36. What to expect – Social orientation Get social! There are plenty of social activities on campus during Orientation brought to you by your Student Organisation – MSA Clayton / MONSU Caulfield. Check them out, get involved, join a club and get connected. Get active! Monash Sport and TeamMONASH have a range of activities, facilities and clubs for those who want to stay active and be part of the team.

How to make the most out of Orientation Don’t disappear, your life on campus is just beginning… There are plenty of activities at all campuses so keep coming back and make the most of Orientation at Monash Get to know your campus by taking a tour, wandering about and checking out the facilities Ask questions, start conversations, get settled and involved The more you put in, the more you will get out in the short and long term.
