  2. Goals • To better understand current situations/activities of international summer programmes(ISP) in Korean market • To know how we can effectively cooperate with Korean partners through ISP • To encourage more partnerships between UK and Korea through summer opportunities

Both for UK and KR International educators • For Korean International Educators • - providing various types of ISP • - Identifying the most relevant type of ISP • - encouraging developing your own ISP • - Finding a good UK partner for ISP • For UK International Educators • - providing market information • - Identifying the most relevant model of ISP • - encouraging in collaboration with Korea HEIs • - Finding a good Korea partner for ISP

  17. Steps to start for Korean • Examining - the needs of Korean students- the needs of your partner institutions (students/faculty)- resources (empty dorm rooms during summer ?) • Copy one of the model programBUT add your specialty ! • START ASAP to promote (at least 8 months before)

Steps to start for UK • Deciding the areas of collaboration- as a faculty member provider (make Collaborative)- destination for faculty-led short term abroad-short-term exchange abroad (tuition fee waiver) • Encouraging UK students- WE are READY to make them happy both academically and culturally- 100% sure of their SATISFACTION- LOW COSTS

EAIE Trondheim 2007 Session: Summer School–Planning for Success • The use of having summer courses (by Jeoren Torenbeek, Utrecht University Summer School) • •Internationalise programme • •Balance exchange with partners • •Recruit students for degree programmes (‘theoretical physics in a nutshell’) • •Raise the profile of the university or department • •Brush up course (introductory econometrics for future master students of Economics) • •Bridging course • •Aimed at graduates, professionals, alumni (lifelong learning) • •For students who have little time (want to graduate, or go abroad) • •For fun (art history, medieval music) • •Cash cow
