Objectives • Increase their chances of sustained employment • Improve their confidence & skills • Reduce vulnerability • Regenerate the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods • Improve the health status of people living in deprived communities. • Improve access to high quality services for those in rural communities.
In Highland three strands have emerged : • Access to childcare • Transport to Employment • Training and Education
Target Group Working for Families is aimed at: • Parents on Low Income • Lone Parents • Parents with Stresses in the Household (e.g. Disabilities, Mental Health, Drugs or Alcohol issues)
Infrastructure In North Ayrshire : • Flexible Childcare • Childminder Start-up • Sitter Service • Workplace Creche • *Mobile Creche
Infrastructure In Highlands : Develop Childminders through Top-up Scheme with SCMA Partner support of Direct Childcare for sitter and mobile creche service Forward with Families project, trains volunteers to work in homes with clients far from the job market
Transitional Support In North Ayrshire & Highlands our Link Advisors & Parent Champions offer: • Advice & Guidance: • Childcare Funding: • Access to Flexible / Affordable Childcare: • Mentoring and advocacy

Employability In North Ayrshire we offer support to employment through: • Welfare Rights • Young Parents Support • Throughcare • Brights Futures • STEPS
Employability In Highlands we offer support to employment through: • Childcare through SCMA +Sitter Service +Mobile Creche • Running local courses • Confidence and self-esteem building groups • Healthy Lifestyles project • Funding driving licences, HGV and PSV licences • Subsidising transport to work
Innovative Projects In North Ayrshire we also have the following: • First Steps to Childcare • Generations Working
Innovative Projects in Highland we have: • Contributed to setting up new Mobile creche and Sitter services • Developed a top-up scheme to encourage childminders (so clients become self-employed) • Funded T2E to provide transport to work, childcare and training, in areas without public services
Focus Beyond March 2008 Specific Timebound Measureable Realistic Achieveable
Beyond 2008 Affirmation I (Scottish Executive) have achieved our objective through the effective delivery of support services within Local Authority Sites. To continue building on this success approval was given to provide mainstream funding for Working for Families to support and assist parents towards and into employment for the next four years.
