  6. THE POWER OF CALLING “It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine or for rulers to desire beer.” Verse 4 (HCSB)

  7. My Mother Taught Me… • It’s never too late to start. You can do anything you put your mind to. • Always leave things better than you found them. • Nothing is impossible. • Trust in the Lord’s providence.

  8. THE PRIORITY OF RELATIONSHIPS

  9. My Mother Taught Me… • Don’t date someone more than once without asking, “Is this someone whom I would want to be the father of my children.” • Never date anyone you wouldn’t want to marry.

  10. THE PRIORITY OF RELATIONSHIPS “Don’t spend your energy on women or your efforts on those who destroy kings.” v. 3 (HCSB)

  11. My Mother Taught Me… • Don’t date someone more than once without asking, “Is this someone whom I would want to be the father of my children.” • Never date anyone you wouldn’t want to marry. • Treat others like you want to be treated.

  12. THE VALUE OF DISCIPLINE “It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine or for rulers to drink beer. Otherwise, they will drink, forget what is decreed, and pervert justice for all the oppressed.” (vv. 4-5, HCSB)

  13. THE VALUE OF DISCIPLINE “Give beer to one who is dying, and wine to one whose life is bitter. Let him drink so that he can forget his poverty and remember his trouble no more.” (vv. 6-7, HCSB)

  14. My Mother Taught Me… • Patience, kindness, love and “just wait until your daddy gets home.” • Don’t sweat the small stuff. • What worries you the most usually amounts to the least.

  15. THE PURPOSE OF WORDS Speak up for those who have no voice, for the justice of all who are dispossessed. Speak up, judge righteously and defend the cause of the oppressed and needy. (vv. 8-9, HCSB)

  16. My Mother Taught Me… • Don’t talk about others behind their back or they will do the same to you. • It’s not what you say but how you say it.

  17. “No rotten talk should come from your mouth, but only what is good for the building up of someone in need, in order to give grace to those who hear.” (Eph. 4:29, HCSB)
