LMIC Policies and Procedures • Students must have a pass from their teacher to use the LMIC during the school day (unless it is during lunch). • Students must sign in at the front desk. • Students must be respectful of other students and staff at all times. • No food or drink is permitted in the LMIC.
LMIC Resources – Computers • 22 networked computers are available for students use. • Computers have Internet and OPAC (library catalog) access as well as Microsoft Office programs. • Printing is free, but we do not have a color printer.
LMIC Resources • The copy machine is available for student use for a fee of ten cents per copy.
LMIC Resources - Periodicals Newspapers – can only be used in the library • The Cincinnati Enquirer • The Northwest Press
LMIC Resources - Periodicals Magazines All except for the most recent issues of magazines can be checked out
LMIC Resources - Books • Most books (with the exception of reference) can be checked out for a period of 2 weeks. • Students may check out up to five books at a time. • Overdue fees are 5 cents per day. • Students who owe more than $1.00 in fees or who have an overdue book will not be permitted to check out books.
Finding a book - OPAC • Start by opening the Follett’s Application folder on the desktop.
OPAC • Next, click on the icon to open OPAC.
OPAC • You can search by author, title, subject or keyword. • Let’s do a sample search for vampires.
OPAC • A keyword search shows us every book that has the word vampire in the title or summary.
OPAC – Call numbers The number will tell you where to find the book on the shelves. A call number that begins with a number instead of a letter is nonfiction. Look at the signs hanging from the ceiling in order to find the right spot on the shelf.

Genre Activity • With a partner, you will go to each table, look through the stack of books and determine which genre they would fit with.
