  3. Lesson 17.1 ACCIDENTS • Safety experts define an accident as an unplanned event often resulting in personal injury, property damage, or both. • A disabling injury is one causing death, permanent disability, or any degree of temporary total disability beyond the day of the accident. CHAPTER 17
