God’s promises are exhilarating animals recognized as predators and prey will live together in harmony. These very beautiful yet unlikely images, announce a profound unity and lasting peace within humanity.
Paul then invites the faithful to welcome eachother as Christ welcomed them.Thus, they become signs of the universalityof God’s salvation and of His peace.
Like the people gathered around the Baptist,today we are still searching for things that are real.Like the Pharisees and Sadducees, we are sometimestempted by ease and lack of depth.
We watch telereality,naively believing that all of it is true.We are fond of videos and imageswhich are the product of a scheme defying all likelihood. We tolerate a justice and commissions, which are incapable of allowing truth to triumph. Is there a place for truth in life? Even Christmas seems to have lost its original meaning : the birth of the God child.
The prophet John announcesthat the Lord comes to judgethe world. All will be revealed.He invites us to change our hearts,to transform our habitstoo well established to make way for something new.
To change for real, is to accept that the Lord make something new with us. As active and convinced Christians, we will never have the opportunity to affirm that all is accomplished. There will always remain dark corners of our existence awaiting the salvation of God, the transformation, the resurrection.
Let us be touched by the truth of the Lordand our life will radiate an astonishing fertility,in the same way as Isaiah’s extraordinary prophetic vision.The God of peace will be able to establish truthand justice in our life, for our greatest happiness.
We are your Church, Lord. Fulfill in us the wonders of your love. May your beauty be our finery, your light, our way. And may your mercy accompany us until we reach your paradise where we will celebrate you forever and ever. Amen.
