Introduction • Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau History • The Statistical Office was one of the first institutions which were created to coincide with the emergence of the State of Kuwait on the eve of Independence in the early 1960s. Law No.27 was issued on 5th December 1963. • This Office is to be the sole official statistical reference in the State of Kuwait"

Structure of KCSB • The Organizational Structure of Central Statistical Bureau has been adopted on 5/5/2010 and accordingly issued the following resolutions were issued: • Ministerial Resolution No.55 of 2010 Concerning the Organizational Structure of the Central Statistical Bureau . • Ministerial Resolution No. 56 for the year 2010,on the matter of the General tasks of the Central Statistical Bureau and the detailed tasks of the Technical Office . • Ministerial Resolution No. 57 for the year 2010, on the matter of the detailed tasks of the Administrative Support and Information Sector. • Ministerial Resolution No.58 of 2010 on the detailed Terms of Reference for the Statistical Affairs Sector . • The Central Statistical Bureau issues about (27) annual publication in addition to monthly and periodic reports and other analytical reports .

Kuwait Central Bureau Strategy • Vision • To build a robust national statistical system that would efficiently respond to data users and ensure CSB’s pre-eminence as a national entity operating upon world-class standards • Mission • To disseminate reliable and timely statistics to all users in order to support the development, planning and decision making, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, through ensuring the usage of world-class systems and building a professional workforce

Data sources in the State of Kuwait • Multiple data sources in the State of Kuwait , which supplythe Central Statistical Bureau, include: • Public Authority for Civil Information. • Ministry of Health. • Ministry of Higher Education and ministry of Education. • Ministry of Social Affairs and labor. • The Ministry of Finance . • Civil Service commission. • General Administration of Customs . • Central Bank of Kuwait. • Ministry of Oil. • And other official bodies .

Standardization of statistical concepts and classifications in line with international standards • Example: • The need to work to unify the statistical concepts and classificationsin the various public sector entities . • Central Statistical Bureau in collaboration with the World Bank experts has implemented a project to develop and modernize the Kuwaiti labor market data in coordination with all concerned anddisseminate these statistics in line with international concepts and classifications.

Labor Market Information System Definition A set of institutional arrangements, processes, and tools for the collection, integration, analysis, and support to policy formulation, and dissemination of labor market information. Objective To improve the functioning of the labor market, both from the point of view of the development of more effective and appropriate labor market policy by government and through more informed decision-making by both employers and employees to produce better labor market outcomes.

Future outlook • Central Statistical Bureau looks forward to: • Establishing a National information network linking all bodies producing official statistics, which will help inincreasing speed and accuracy of transfer ofinformation • Consolidate the role for CSB as the solereference for Official Statistics in the country • Work to increase statistical awareness among members of the Kuwaiti society by using the media , Seminars, universities, schools & different entities
