  3. Where are we now …….. • Less than 9 school weeks left. • For those students doing ATAR courses, school-based exams start in Week 9 Term 3. 16 Sept is a study day, exams commence Tuesday 17 Sept. General course classes continue • Students need to be finishing off Certificate courses. For many students, this is a requirement of WACE. • Hard work over the next few months will make a difference.

  4. End of year events • Last day arrangements and graduation • Year 12 Farewell assembly – Thursday 26 Sept. • Dress Up Morning– Friday 27 Sept. • Year 12 breakfast – Monday 28 Oct. • Presentation evening rehearsal – Monday 28 Oct. • Presentation evening – Monday 28 Oct. • Attendance • Unexplained absences

  5. Successfully achieving WACE • Maintain C grades (14/6) • Complete all units of Certificate courses. • Sem 1 results are progress grades only. • The vast majority of students are on track.

  6. Exams • External exams are compulsory for all ATAR students. Failure to attend exams will affect the achievement of WACE. • School exams are compulsory for all ATAR students. • WACE practical exams are held during Sept& Oct • Exam timetables are available at www.scsa.wa.edu.au and on the College website. • Check exam times and venues carefully.

  7. TAFE • TAFE applications should be considered for all General students and ATAR students who are at risk of achieving an ATAR below 70. Predicted ATARs will be provided to all students in Week 3. • Students apply online however supporting documentation may be needed to be attached to applications. • TAFE take into account school results, work experience, completion of Certificates.

  8. Alternative entry to university • See Leonie Francis to discuss alternative entry options including portfolio entry and university preparation options. • Good plan B and C for students are risk of achieving an ATAR below 70. • Students must still successfully achieve WACE.

Marks adjustment process • Because there are differences in school marking, school marks are adjusted to be on the same scale as the exam marks (moderation) • Because there are differences in exam difficulty from year to year, combined marks are modified to a predefined distribution (standardisation) • Because there are differences between subjects, course combined marks are scaled (average marks scaling)

Don’t lose focus • Business end of the year - ENGAGE • Submit work on time • Catch up • Communicate with your teachers, ask for help • Maintain high levels of attendance • Complete all units of competency • Get applications done and then focus on finishing Year 12 • Engage with revision opportunities • Submit scholarship applications
