  1. The Periodic Table BY: BRIANNA SHIELDS

  2. DO NOW • 1. What element has 7 protons? • 2. How many neutrons does Hydrogen have? • 3. How many electrons does Neon have?

  3. GOAL • To construct Bohr models • To use the periodic table and become familiar with its elements

  4. Review: Fill in the table

  5. Review: Atoms • How many protons, neutrons and electrons?

  6. How many p, n, e?

  7. How many p, n, e?

  8. How many p, n, e?

  9. How many p, n, e?

  10. Steps to creating a Bohr Model • Create a key: #p, #n, # e • Draw the nucleus w/ several rings • Put P and N in nucleus • Put E into orbits from inside to outside • 1st level holds 2 electrons • 2nd holds 8 • 3rd holds 18 • 4th holds 32 maximum numbers of e’s that each level can hold

  11. KEY #p= 3 #n= 4 #e= 3 Lithium 3P 4N

  12. Bohr Model Example 6 6 6

  13. Bohr Model Example 2 2 2

  14. Bohr Model Example

  15. Bohr Model Example • Make a Bohr model of Magnesium. Don’t forget to make a key. Magnesium

  16. KEY #p= 12 #n= 12 #e= 12 Magnesium 12P 12N

  17. Draw the following Bohr Models: • Random students will be chosen to draw theirs on the board (don’t forget to make a key) • Neon • Hydrogen • Potassium
