A subordinate clause: • Starts with a subordinate conjunction • Is followed by a subject and predicate • Depends on another subject and predicate (complete sentence) to make sense • Example: [If youlike ice cream], youshould try the Marble Slab Creamery.
Subordinate clause poems… • Start with 4 subordinate clauses • Each clause is followed by a comma • End with a complete sentence (subject and predicate)
A poem might look like this: When I traveled to the airport, After the transport truck jack-knifed, Because the 401 was jam-packed, Since I was stuck in traffic, I almost missed my flight.
Or this: If Bobwants to pass this course, Because hedoesn’t want to go to summer school, Since hehas a summer part-time job, When the teacherassigns projects, Hewill hand everything in.
