  1. English 10 - 1/23/12 • Five minutes to prepare for Vocab. Final • Why did the banker break up with his girl friend? • Tarantism – an irresistible urge to dance. • Goals - Complete vocabulary Final. • Homework – None.

English 10 - 1/24/12 • What do you like or dislike about reading? • Where did the king keep his little armies? • Phaneromania – the habit of picking at scabs, biting nails, or popping pimples. • Goals - What do you think the last sentence on page 6 means? Get into “Absolutely True….” Write some stuff from the book that might work to help you think about the questions. • Homework – Read the book for at least ½ hour.

  3. English 10 - 1/25/12 • Can you learn anything from poverty? What does Arnold think? What do you think? • Why was Cinderella so lousy at baseball? • Theomania – belief that one is god. • Goals – Discuss a question or two from “Absolutely True…” Show each other where you found it and what it means to you. Discus one theme. • Homework – Read the book for at least fifteen minutes. Show me tomorrow that you have put some new stuff from the book under your questions.

Why does he throw the book at Mr. P? • How many English teacher jokes are there? • Oedipus complex – the desire of a son to kill his father. • Goals – Reading silently. Using quotes to back up what you think. • Homework – Read the book for at least fifteen minutes. Find a quote, an interesting thing the author said.

Why does Arnold have hope? • Why do bagpipers always walk when they play? • Orestes complex – The desire of a son to kill his mother. • Goals - Read quietly for pleasure. • Homework – Read the book for at least fifteen minutes a day unless you are finished. Try to be at least to page 110 by Monday. Make note of interesting quotes or ideas.
