What is the purpose of this task? To explore the concept of how we project our values to others What will you learn from this task? • To assess the significance of four values (being liked, admired, trusted and respected) • To attribute a value to yourself and consider what this means to others • To reflect on the impact of your chosen value on your behaviour and choices You will need Copies of the four caps worksheet The four values grid
Now complete the task • Everyone needs a copy of the four caps worksheet • Display the four values grid on a board • Ask everyone to choose the cap that fits – i.e. the value that they most want others to see in them. • Note your choice on the worksheet, along with the reason why this value matters the most to you • Depending on the time available, add decorations or other words and feelings to your chosen cap

Debate the following • Individuals can be liked but not trusted or respected (everyone wants to be liked) • Individuals can be respected but not liked or trusted (someone in authority) • Individuals can be admired but not liked or respected (e.g. someone with a talent)
