  6. Networks had to compete- • NBC created Friday Night Videos

  7. New wave, hard rock, heavy metal • Adam Ant, Blondie, Eurythmics, Culture Club, Motley Crue, Prince, Duran Duran, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, The Police, Dire Straits, Journey, Aerosmith, Billy Joel, Phil Collins, David Lee Roth

  8. Flashdance: First film in which promoters used musical segments and put them into music videos • Footloose: The director watched music videos and MTV to plan out how to direct the film
