  2. Smog • A type of air pollution caused by (used to be from burning coal) from cars and factories • Can be harmful to people, especially with people with lung and heart diseases, and is a well known cause of Bronchitis, asthma and emphysema.

  3. Acid rain • Caused by factories releasing, carbon dioxide, sulpur dioxide and nitrogen oxide which reacts with water. • An impact of acid rain is that lakes can get polluted which will in itself kill fish. • Acid rain is not as an a bigger issue as it was (in MEDC’s) due to modern technology such as catalytic converters which remove the sulphur and carbon dioxide.

  4. Acid rain has worn away the statue. Acid rain has killed trees which means more Carbon Dioxide will be released into the atmosphere.

  5. Global warming • Happening as result of the rise in levels of Carbon Dioxide being released. • As a result in the North Pole (where Polar bears live) ice caps are melting which is causing polar bears and penguins to die. • Sea levels are expecting to rise just because as a rise in temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius.

  6. Past, Present, Future? • Now and 2080 • Sea Levels

  7. Positive Impacts? • MEDC’s will experience warmer summers, which could introduce an increase in biodiversity (plants and animals). • This could see an increase in the number of tourists visiting here which offers new jobs- multiplier effect. • We will also (statistically) spend more time outside doing outdoor activities which will increase our health levels.
