  4. Types of Common Injuries • Abrasion • Laceration • Puncture • Avulsion

  5. First Aid for Bleeding • Gloves • Wash • Cover • Elevate • Cover • Pressure Bandage if necessary

Burns • Determined by depth of damage • 1st degree – first layer (sunburn) • 2nd degree – top few layers, blisters, never pop blisters (what I had a few weeks ago) • 3rd degree – deep layers possible fat, muscle, and nerve damage • Minor burns can be treated at home • Severe burns need professional medical attention

  8. Burn Treatment • 1st degree – run under cold running water for 10mins. Cover with a clean, cold, wet towel. Pat dry and cover with bandage. • 2nd degree – run under cold running water. Elevate the burned area. Wrap with a loose, clean, dry dressing. DO NOT POP. • 3rd degree – Call for help. Cool with water. Wrap with a loose, clean, dry dressing.
