What do you do on the internet? • With a table partner, make a list of some of the things you do on the Internet. • Be ready to share your list with the class!
Who uses facebook and/or twitter? • You SHOULD NOT have a Facebook or Twitter account if you are under the age of 13. • BUT…if you do, be aware of who you COULD be talking to.

Remember these Safety tips: • NEVER use your whole name online • NEVER post your school, address, or phone number • DO be careful what pictures of you are posted • DON’T get angry when your parents use child safety controls – they are meant to keep you safe • DO talk with your parents about what you do online
Choosing Screen Names • Screen names • People can tell a lot about you by your screen name – sometimes even your name, your age, and where you live • Don’t use your first and last name together • Don’t include your age in the name • Think about what message your screen name sends. What are some good examples of screen names?
Passwords • Passwords • Passwords are important because if someone finds yours out, they can learn private things about you, send out hurtful emails under your name, and really cause you problems. • Passwords should be a mixture of lowercase letters, upper case letters, numbers, and maybe even punctuation • Never keep your password written down near your computer. • Don’t share your passwords with anyone besides your parents. Not even your friends!
Bad password ideas… • Password • Monkey • 123456 • Any variation of your name • Your birthday • Your address/phone number • Your pet’s name • What are some good passwords? (remember…don’t share yours!)
