  4. Egypt • Wide plains on both sides of the river

  5. Nubia • High cliffs rise straight up along the banks of the Nile

  6. Egypt • River is smooth as it flows downstream

  7. Nubia • In the south, large granite boulders block portions of the river, causing rapids or waterfalls
