  5. Ramses II • Fights the Hittites in Palestine (Battle of Kadesh 1285 B.C.) • Karnak added temple to Amon, chief god • Ruled from 1290-1224 B.C. • Lived to 99 years old w/ 150 kids • Pharaoh = “Great House”

  9. Meroë • Assyrians enter Egypt, Royal family flees • Iron ore • Close to Red Sea (Significance?) • Rainfall • Prosperous 250 B.C. – A.D. 150 • Falls to Aksum in A.D. 350
