Upgrade Overview • Two Components: • SOFTWARE UPGRADE • Make sure to install the latest support pack! • DATA UPGRADE
Software: GroupWise 6.5 SoftWare Distribution Directory • Install to a new location, not over the top of an existing SDD • Install the software from the GroupWise 6.5 Administration CD • Install the software from the GroupWise 6.5 Client CD • GroupWise Messenger has a separate SDD but the Messenger client can be installed with the GroupWise 6.5 Windows client
Software Upgrade: Administration • Go to the <GW65SDD>\ADMIN directory and run INSTALL.EXE • Extend eDirectory schema if needed • ConsoleOne 1.3.4 or better • GroupWise 6.5 SNAPINs
Software Upgrade: Primary Domain • STEPS • Bring down the GroupWise MTA • Install the GroupWise 6.5 MTA - Do not load yet
Data Upgrade: Primary Domain • Copy in the new GroupWise 6.5 *.DC files from: <GW65SDD>\DOMAIN to: <The Domain Directory>
Data Upgrade: Primary Domain • Copy in the new GroupWise 6.5 *.DC files from: <GW65SDD>\PO to: <The Domain Directory>\WPOFFICE
Data Upgrade: Primary Domain WPDOMAIN.DB Recovery • Load the GroupWise 6.5 MTA • The MTA recovers the WPDOMAIN.DB and adds new fields from the GWDOM.DC
Data Upgrade: Confirm the WPDOMAIN.DB was upgraded to 6.5 • Connect to the Primary domain in ConsoleOne with 6.5 Snapins • Look at the properties confirm that it’s “6.5”
Upgrading a Secondary Domain • The Primary domain must be upgraded first • Follow the exact same steps as upgrading the Primary domain
Upgrading a Post Office • Steps • Upgrade the domain first • Upgrade Software • Upgrade Data
Software Upgrade: Post Office • Bring down the POA • Install the GroupWise 6.5 POA
Software Upgrade: Post Office • Install the GroupWise 6.5 Level view and view support files • Copy in the new GroupWise 6.5 view and view support files from: <GW65SDD>\CLIENT\WIN to: <The Post Office Directory>\OFVIEWS\WIN
Data Upgrade: Post Office • Copy in the new GroupWise 6.5 *.DC files from: <GW65SDD>\PO to: <The Domain Directory>\WPOFFICE
Data Upgrade – Part 1: Post Office • Load the GroupWise 6.5 POA • The POA recovers the WPHOST.DB and adds new fields from the GWPO.DC • The POA rebuilds the NGWGUARD.DB and adds new fields from the NGWGUARD.DC
Data Upgrade – Part 1 : Confirm the WPHOST.DB was upgraded to 6.5 • Connect to the to the domain that owns the post office, in ConsoleOne with 6.5 Snapins • Look at the properties confirm that it’s “6.5”
Data Upgrade – Part 2: Post Office • The First time users log in, their USERXXX.DB is upgraded • The POA log will indicate the upgrade with messages like this (in verbose logging mode): 20:06:01 0C0 C/S Login win Net Id=Employee ::GW Id=tkratzer :: 192.168.95.8 20:06:02 Added field 1332 to database 20:06:02 Added field 1345 to database 20:06:02 Added field 1422 to database 20:06:02 Added field 1447 to database
Upgrading WebAccess • STEPS • Upgrade the software (No data to upgrade)
Software Upgrade: WebAccess • Run SETUP.EXE from the <GW65SDD>\INTERNET\WEBACCES directory • Install the WebAccess Application (servlet) & Agent right over the top of the existing software.

Software Upgrade: GroupWise Wireless • Installs automatically with GroupWise WebAccess
Upgrading GWIA • STEPS • Upgrade the software (No data to upgrade)
Software Upgrade: GWIA • Run “INSTALL.EXE /copyonly” from the <GW65SDD>\INTERNET\GWIA directory • Install the GWIA over the top of the existing software
GroupWise Client Upgrade • Three methods for installation • SETUP.EXE • SETUPIP.EXE • *.AOT files provided for ZENworks
SETUP.EXE: GroupWise Client Upgrade • Requires rights to a network drive • Can be configured to install without prompting users with installation questions • Can be designed to run from as an auto-run on a CD
SETUPIP.EXE: GroupWise Client Upgrade • Installs from a web server • Can be configured to install without prompting users with installation questions • One little executable can be distributed to users to run, and then install the GroupWise client from a web server
GroupWise Messenger Client Installation • Can be combined with the GroupWise client installation • Can be configured to install without prompting users with installation questions
