Looking for journal articles? • To search for journal articles in the Wayland Learning Resources Center’s collection of e-journals in approximately 150 databases, you will need your own unique EZProxy Log-in. • Username = your WBU student ID number. • Password = the first three letters of your first name and the first three letters of your last name. • Use the “EZProxy Account Form” to request assistance if you have trouble logging in to EZProxy: • After you have your log-in: • Go to the Wayland Library Website at http://library.wbu.edu • Click on the Simple Search check boxes for “Full Text” and/or “Peer Reviewed”. • Enter search terms into the “Simple Search” search box and click the “Search” button. • You will then be prompted to Log in to EZProxy. • Subject specific resource guides are also available. These guides will list databases you may search in addition to Simple Search. To find these guides click on the “Articles and Databases” link on the main library web page. • Use the “Article Request Form” to request articles that are not available full text. rev. 4/4/13

Looking for books and other stuff? • To search for books, CDs DVDs, and other media in the Wayland Learning Resources Center, go the website at: http://library.wbu.edu • Click on “Books and More”. • Enter search terms: Use the dropdown menu to search subject, author, title, or ISBN. • Click “Search”. • When you locate material you would like to request, make note of title, author, ISBN and call number to complete the request form. • To request material: Point your cursor at the “Distance Students” link. A pop-up menu of forms will appear. Select the “Book Request Form”. Fill the form out completely. We use the information on this form to locate the material you request and to ship to you. It is very important that your address be complete and correct. We will ship your materials to the address you provide on the form. Hint: you may request multiple items by listing additional titles in the comments field. rev. 4/4/13

About borrowing books • There is no limit to the number of items you may check out. • Undergraduate students may check out materials for 4 weeks at a time. • Graduate students may check out materials for 5 weeks at a time. • You may renew materials that you need to keep longer by calling 1-800-459-8648, 1-806-291-3701, faxing 1-806-291-1964, email lrcref@wbu.edu, or submit an “Ask a Librarian” form. • All postage – including return postage-is prepaid. A return label will be shipped with your material. Be sure to save it and use it to return your books for free. About e-books To view e-books you find in the library catalog, go to the library’s “Books and More” page and click on the “E-books on Ebsco Host” link. There you will be prompted to log in the EZProxyto search and view e-books. rev. 4/4/13

  6. What’s a WorldCat? • WorldCat is an online catalog of materials in libraries all over the world. Use WorldCat to find additional resources you don’t find in the Wayland Library catalog. • Search WorldCat for books Wayland does not own: • Go the “Books and More” web page and scroll down to find and click on WorldCat. Enter search terms: title, subject, author, person, etc. in the search box. • Click “Search”. Note title, author, and ISBN of materials you would like to request. • Requesting books you find in WorldCat: • Go to Wayland’s Learning Resources Center website at http://library.wbu.edu • Find and click on the “Book Request Form” by pointing your computer cursor at the Distance Students link. • Fill out the form….COMPLETELY….Be sure to click on the ILL “Yes” checkbox. • Click on “Submit”. • ILL material will be requested and forwarded to you as soon as it is received in the Learning Resources Center. • Interlibrary Loan (ILL). The Wayland Learning Resources Center participates in ILL with libraries all across the United States. When you request a book we do not own we will request it through ILL from another library and have it shipped to us. Please allow extra time! ILL may take from 1-2 weeks to reach the Wayland Library before we can send them to you. rev. 4/4/13

Your access to local libraries • To find local libraries where you can access resources: • In addition to the resources and services available to distance students through Wayland Baptist University's Learning Resources Center in Plainview, Texas, students may have access to additional resources at libraries in their own area. • Go to: http://www.wbu.edu/academics/academic_resources/wayland_learning_resource_center_library/about/lal.html • Click on the dropdown menu to find your location and see a list of local libraries. • TexShare for Texas residents: • Students who are residents of the State of Texas have access to the TexShare program which allows patrons to checkout materials from participating libraries across the state. • To get a TexShare Card go to Wayland Learning Resources Center website at http://library.wbu.edu . • Click on “Books and More” . • Scroll down to TexShare. • Click on “Apply for a TexShare Card”. • Fill out the requested information and click “Send Request” • Your card will be mailed to you. rev. 4/4/13
