  1. Welcome to the WEA Riverside and the Evergreen Education Association WEA-PAC Kick-Off!

  3. WEA-PAC is the political action committee of the WEA. • WEA-PAC recommends and supports candidates who stand up for public education issues at the state and local level.

  4. Who makes decisions about OUR profession?

  5. Washington state ranks 47th in the nation for class size. How will you support smaller class sizes and other ways of reducing teacher workloads so students receive the personal attention they need to succeed in school? • WEA is working to reduce the high-stakes nature of the WASL test and opposes using the WASL to prevent students from graduating. WEA supports measuring student achievement in multiple ways. What is your position on the WASL and education reform?

  7. We are involved in politics because of our issues. And we ask our members to be involved because political decisions affect our profession.

  8. Once you fill out the membership form, you will see a $2.25 deduction on your monthly paycheck. • You will remain a WEA-PAC member until you ask the payroll office to stop the deduction or you leave the employment of the School District.

  10. In the 2004 and 2006 elections, WEA-PAC prevailed in 13/14 priority legislative races resulting in legislation that: • Restored I-732 and I-728 • Put Simple Majority on the ballot • Phased in all day K • Provided Salary Equity Money • Provided a 5.1 Percent COLA plus restoration
